First week of the “KINSHIP” Tour with IOTUNN & IN VAIN
FIRST WEEK OF THE EUROPEAN TOUR
So… the first 7 shows of the “KINSHIP” tour with IOTUNN and IN VAIN are done—and what a ride it’s been!
We kicked things off with three shows in Germany, and as always: the Germans never disappoint.
Aschaffenburg, Ragnarök Festival (Lichtenfels), and Dortmund were incredible. The crowd was locked in from the very first to the very last riff—screaming when asked, headbanging all the way through every set. For us as the opening band, that means a lot. It’s not always easy to go on first while people are still warming up, but so far that hasn’t been the case at all. You’ve been there from the start, and that makes our job so much easier.
On day four, we headed back to our homeland: Sittard, NL.
Back to the land without mountains, with that familiar (slight) breeze, and where we can finally speak in our own tongue again. We even had a bit of time to check out the city… well, a tiny bit. Until now, that hasn’t really been possible with the tight schedule and getting used to life on the road. Takeaway from the day:
Sittard has a beautiful city center—and southern Dutch crowd loves melodic, progressive death metal!
Next up: Saarbrücken, Germany.
Short version: it was hot (REALLY hot!), packed, and just absolutely killing. Completely in line with the other German shows.
We love you, Germany.
Then came the first real test: France.
We’d never played there before, so our debut at Backstage by the Mill in Paris—right next to the legendary Moulin Rouge—was something special. And what a debut it turned out to be! From the start, the crowd was all in: screaming, headbanging, horns in the air. We’ve never signed that much merch in one night before!
Same story in Nantes: the French brought the energy, and we loved every second of it.
Quick throwback to day one.
As always, the start of a tour is a bit chaotic: bands arriving at different times, everyone figuring out the gear and the merch (and there’s a LOT of both), and of course—each other.
Just imagine: 19 days on the road with 22 people, all packed into one tour bus, most of whom you’ve never even met before. And still—the vibe is amazing. Everyone is down-to-earth, on the same level, and the humor is spot on. It all just clicks. The group dynamic couldn’t be better—we’re all on the same wavelength.
We couldn’t have asked for a better tour package.
