SECOND WEEK OF THE EUROPEAN TOUR

We kicked off the second week of the tour with our final show in France, in the idyllic town of Colmar—and what a day that was.

As a band, we managed a (very) quick run through the town, trying to soak in its beauty. Unfortunately, time wasn’t on our side, so everything we saw, we saw in a rush. Still, the rest of the day went smoothly. And the show that night? Absolute madness. The Colmariens were with us from start to finish—completely blowing the roof off the place. It was hot (maybe even hotter than Saarbrücken), it was loud, and it became a night to remember.

Taking this show, along with the two previous French dates, into account, we can only draw one conclusion:
Nephylim loves the French!

The next day, we arrived in Aarau, Switzerland. Honestly, we could copy-paste the previous day: limited time to explore, a smooth soundcheck, and a show that went absolutely wild. The Swiss love Dutch melodic death—and we love the Swiss!

Next stop: Backstage, Munich.
Good grief, what a venue. Three stages of different sizes—we played the medium one—surrounded by a green artificial area that gives off tropical holiday vibes. The atmosphere was incredible. This felt like the start of something great… or maybe not, depending on who you ask.
Most of us had an amazing night, but our guitarist Ralph might disagree: a broken string on his main guitar, a backup that suddenly (and inexplicably) failed mid-song, forcing him to finish the set on his original guitar—with only five strings. Despite that, the audience didn’t seem to notice (or didn’t care) and went all in. They loved the show.
In every sense: a night we won’t forget.

Now we head east: Budapest (HU), Ljubljana (SI), Vienna (AT), and Prague (CZ).
[Poznań, Poland will be covered in the next tour diary update]

This is relatively new territory for us, and we’re excited to present ourselves to Eastern European crowds. Production-wise, things got a bit smaller—tighter venues, smaller capacities—but the metalheads here are something else entirely. We noticed incredibly dedicated “superfans” for our tour mates in In Vain and Iotunn:

  • Fans attending multiple shows across different countries
  • Fans creating their own signs based on song lyrics and holding them up during performances

This is something we rarely see in Western Europe. Even though it wasn’t directed at us, we absolutely loved it. That level of dedication is what every band dreams of—something to strive for. And it inspired us: we want to build that kind of following in the East.
The shows themselves went very well. Most of the audiences hadn’t heard of us before, so it took a bit more time for them to get into our music compared to earlier shows. But in the end, the reaction was the same: headbanging, chanting crowds clearly having a great time.

Western and Eastern Europe may differ in culture, language, and traditions—but when it comes to metal, they are exactly the same: They love it.
